Financial aid in the form of grants, loans, and part-time employment is available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. For more information about financial aid visit the Rutgers Finanical Aid site here. No financial aid is available for international students.
Students in the program are of varying ages, from their 20s to retirement. Some are in the program as a springboard to doctoral study; others to supplement careers such as in education, healthcare, journalism, art, and many others; and others to pursue personal enrichment.
Most students in the program have full-time jobs. For working students we recommend no more than two courses per semester. At that pace, the MALS program can be completed in two and a half to three years. Students who are not working may be able to manage three courses per semester and finish the MALS program in two years.
No tests are required. However, an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is expected.
Graduate courses taken prior to enrolling in the program may be transferred for credit in many cases. All courses proposed for transfer credit must be approved by the program director using this form. Professional training courses are generally not acceptable. A maximum of three courses (in which a student has received a grade of B or better) may be transferred for credit. Course taken outside of Rutgers-Camden after you have matriculated in the program are considered “transient credit” and must be approved as described here.
You can apply online on the Graduate Admissions site.
If you are not planning to register for any classes in a particular semester, you still need to register for Matriculation Continued (56:606:800) in order to remain in good standing in the program. The charge for this is less than $100.
