The MALS program offers concentrations in five different areas.   Students may choose one of these concentrations, or they may choose a general Liberal Studies program of courses.   The requirements for concentrations are in addition to the other distributional requirements for the MALS degree.  The area of concentration will be noted on a student’s transcript at graduation.  If a student wishes to declare a concentration, it must be done no later than when the capstone proposal is submitted by submitting the Academic Concentration Form.

Each concentration requires four courses from the lists below.  Other appropriate courses may be substituted with prior written permission of the program director.

In addition to the four courses, the concentration will also include a capstone project related to the concentration area.  This means that 15 credits of the MALS degree requirements will be devoted to the concentration.   The other 16 credits are general elective credits which may be used to satisfy distributional requirements.
