This course will explore the development and transformation of art of the 20th century in Europe and the United States. Students will explore the groundbreaking artistic movements, including Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Minimalism, and Environmental Art. The analysis of key works by influential artists and the investigation of the socio-political and historical contexts that shaped Modern Art will lead to a clear understanding of innovative artistic styles. No previous knowledge of Art History is required.
